My experience with Linux.

I've been getting a few of requests for linux ports of my games. So, recently, I installed Ubuntu linux on my system. I must say...I'm not that impressed.

I ran into so many driver problems and input issues! I realize that linux itself might not be the problem, but my own hardware. For now, I think I'll just stick with Mac and PC.

I haven't been getting that many requests for linux ports. I'm not even sure if the linux crowd would be interested in buying Canine Combat, as most of there games are free and open source.

Maybe I'll give it another shot down the road, but for now, Canine Combat will stay as a PC and Mac exclusive.

New Logo!

I've created a new, more stylish logo for Gribble Games. I hope everyone likes it.

I think the orange and blue are more eye catching then my old stick figure-fish.

Changes to the games page.

I've made some changes to the games page.

Firstly, the versions of all the games have now been posted next to there download links. Secondly, I've added zip and dmg support for the downloads that had either one but not the other.

Line Counts

Some of projects have taken longer the others. Some area much bigger then others.

Take a look at the source code line count below:

Space Smashout: 9791
Doodle Dude: 4045
Bird Watch: 1749
JemQuest: 1177

As you can see, they vary quite a bit. SS comes in 1st, Doodle in 2nd, and BW and JemQuest in last. I'm hoping to top my record with Canine Combat.

Were are all the 3D indie games?

Maybe its just me, but it seems as though a lot of indie games are 2D. The reason 2D is mostly chosen over 3D is because 2D games are much easier and faster to produce. For most of us indie developers, we don't have time to do all the math and physics required for a 3D application.

However, my upcoming game, Canine Combat will be in 3D. Yes, yes, 3D takes more work, but I figure that it will help it stand out (no pun intended). Besides, some games just can't be done well in 2D, like racing games.

I might go back to 2D games after Canine Combat is finished... But we'll have to see.

Canine Combat Announced!

Vacation is over, and today I'm announcing a new game!

It's called Canine Combat: Dog Fights!



Canine Combat is a WWII flight game set in the dog universe. The game will have a story mode as well as multilayer over LAN.

Canine Combat will be available for the Mac and PC systems when it is released.
